2009 Lax by the Lake Lacrosse Tournament
5th & 6th Grade Girls Rules
Players must currently be in 5th/6th grade, but may play up one
grade at coach's discretion. No playing down a grade
Standard Modified field
No formal score to be kept
Goggles and mouthguards are mandatory
2 - 15 minute running halves with 5 minute halftime
12 X 12 (including Goalie)- substitutions made on the fly
Must complete 1 overhand pass in offensive zone
4 players stay behind restraining line
If player stalls (does not shoot or pass) with ball after 5 seconds, Referee will blow whistle and other team gets the ball
Crease violation- stick must not break plane
No stick checks
No raking or covering the ball
No kicking the ball
Goalie wears - throat, leg and thigh protection
Center draw to start each half - 5 girls on circle- goalie clears crease after goal- shooting space will be enforced
Players must currently be in 3rd through 4th grade only.
Younger players may play up at their coach's discretion (i.e.,
2nd grader to 3rd/4th; 4th grader to 5th/6th. No higher grades
will be allowed to play down.
No formal score will be kept

Hard boundaries will be played
Two- 15 minute running halves with 5 minute halftime
substitutions made on the fly
7 on 7 players plus Goalie
2 players (Offense & Defense), plus Goalie stay behind
restraining (midfield) line
Draw at center of midfield line, and draws will only be done to
start each half
Goalie will clear the crease after a goal is scored
Must attempt 1 overhand pass in offensive zone (beyond midfield
line). If the pass is incomplete or dropped and is recovered
by the offensive team, the pass is considered complete. If
possession is turned over but recovered while still in offensive
zone, one pass must again be attempted.
No body contact
No checking
No raking, covering or kicking the ball
No sticks between opponent’s legs
Crease violation (no “breaking the plane”)
Minor penalty: possession and 1 meter away for penalized player.
Major penalty: possession and penalized player moves 4 meters
away. Within 8 meters: penalty = direct shot.

Shooting space will be enforced
K - 2 Girls Rules

1/2, 3/4 field 8 players- 2 attack, 3 midfield, and 2 defense, 1 goalie. 5/6 10 players, 3-3-3-1
5/6 no more than 3 long polls on field at any time. 1/2, 3/4 no long polls.
Games consist of 2 12-minute running time halves. There will be a horn to start and end each half. Score is kept by the referee.
Substitutions are made on the fly. Players must touch sticks in the box. Also subs. can be changed at a dead ball. Coach must notify referee.
NO BODY CHECKING- MUST ALWAYS PLAY BALL
After a goal is scored the goalie will pick up ball, referee will blow the whistle and the goalie will clear the ball.
a face-off will only occur at the start of each half. Attack and defense will start at the goal line extended.
all players must be equipped with a lacrosse helmet, shoulder pads, arm pads, gloves, and a mouthpiece.
each team is allowed one, 1- minute time out per half.
each team must have a coach, minimum of 21 years old, who will be in change of team discipline.
Teams will wear matching jerseys that are numbered.
Penalties are assessed according to NCAA rules and are full time served. Penalty time is kept on the bench by the scorekeeper. Penalized players must report to the scorekeeper to serve their time.
